Grow With Us

Formation for Young People

At St. John’s, we don’t just say we love children, we mean it!
You may have been to a church before where a child is loud or a baby starts crying and everyone turns and stares. That’s not us! When we say “All are welcome,” all means all.

Confirmation for Teens

Our teenagers are currently completing the 2nd year of their Confirmation Class. While initially thrown off by the pandemic, the teens (most of whom grew up at St. John’s) are on track to choose if they’d like to be Confirmed by the end of the school year, 2023.

What to expect on Sundays with children

Like many parishes, our children’s ministries waxed and waned with the pandemic, and we hope to return to a traditional Sunday School model as soon as we have a critical mass of kids.

At this time, children attend the full church service with their parent(s)/guardian(s). Upon entering the church, children will be given a small bag with coloring pencils or crayons, as well as a beautifully done Children’s Worship Bulletin and coloring pages by Illustrated Ministries. This gives children the opportunity to engage in the subject matter of the morning’s Gospel lesson at an age appropriate level, while their accompanying adult listens to the sermon. Colorful, modern Spark Children’s Bibles are also available at the back of the church for kids’ who want to dig in deeper.

Adult Formation

At St. John’s, we love to gather together to grow in faith and the love of God. What this looks like takes many different forms: a weekly lay-led Bible Study of the Sunday Scriptures, the Women’s Prayer Circle (every other Tuesday at 4pm), the Men’s Hiking Group, seasonal Zoom book groups led by a priest, and occasional guest speakers on topics of interest to the congregation.
